The Fremont County Clerk & Recorder's Office is committed to providing access to original public records in accordance with the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA). If you wish to conduct research and access original public records stored on-site, please complete this form.

Due to the location and state of the records, staff must be present during the research process. Our office will work with you to schedule a time in half-day increments, or as practically as possible. Please note that you will be required to provide your own clean gloves (nitrile, vinyl, or lint-free cotton) to handle the original documents.

This includes Dates of Birth, Death & Marriage; Social Security Numbers; Driver's License Numbers; Financial Account Numbers; Medical Information; or Passport Numbers. Request to Conduct Research of the Clerk and Recorder’s Original Public Records Stored with the Custodian of the Record

Pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute 24-72-(202-205) Inspection, Copying or Photographing, the Clerk and Recorder's Office has adopted policies and procedures to allow access to the original public records stored on site.

The requestor understands that the Clerk's Office as custodian of the records has stored the records in a location that requires staff to be always present during the research due to the location and the state of the records.

The requestor understands that due to the limited staffing of the Clerk's Office, that the Clerk's Office will schedule a time with the requestor in half day increments or as practical as possible for the Clerk's Office to have staff present during the research.

All requestors are required to supply their own set of clean gloves (nitrile, vinyl, or lint-free cotton) to handle the original documents. Requestors will be required to provide a deposit payment in advance for the staff hourly time utilized pursuant to CRS 24-72-205(6)(a)&(b) and for the purchase of document copies. After the research is completed, any unused funds will be returned to the requestor. Note that the first hour is free Requestor will be charged per hour.

The Clerk and Recorder's Office has and will provide the necessary equipment to read and/or make copies of necessary documents.

*All requestors are notified that the documents are located in a basement that has no elevator access and that the only access the documents is by stairway.*

I am requesting access to the original public records of the Clerk and Recorder's Office.

By signing this form I understand that the Clerk and Recorder's Office will work with me to establish an appropriate time to access the records, must bring my own set of gloves to handle the records, must deposit sufficient funds as a research fee as determined by the time necessary to complete research, and understand that no requestor is prohibited to make copies or take photographs of documents in the custody of the Clerk and Recorder.
